About Matei droną?
Matei droną? (“Did you see a drone?”) helps residents report drones, balloons and fallen objects quickly and safely, and lets the responsible services see all reports on one map.
This app does not alert emergency services, and reports are reviewed mostly during the day. If anyone is in danger, call 112.
Who runs it
The service is run by a company led by Lukas Arlauskas [legal name to be added]. During the pilot, reports are shared with the police. Reports are reviewed by moderators and police officers – mostly during the day.
How it works
- You point your phone at the object and tap – the app records where you were and which way you were looking.
- Reports go to a closed system, where moderators and police officers see them on a map, grouped by place and time.
- Every report is checked automatically against the positions of aircraft at the time.
- A day later, confirmed drones and balloons appear on the app's public map as counts in areas about 5 km across.
What it will never do
- Replace calling 112.
- Show a live map, single reports or your videos.
- Send its own drone warnings – warnings come from the authorities.
- Encourage anyone to get closer to anything, or reward reports.
Text messages from the police
While on the phone with you, an officer may text you a link that starts with mateidrona.lt/u/, so you can send your video. Police messages never ask for passwords, codes or payment. If a message asks for any of these, it is a scam – don’t open the link.
